Planning a smile makeover
Many people combine treatments. The order matters:
- Straighten first. If teeth are crooked, aligning them first often means less tooth needs to be shaped for veneers or bonding later, or none at all.
- Whiten next. Fillings, crowns and veneers don’t change colour, so we whiten your natural teeth first and match new work to the brighter shade.
- Then repair and reshape. Bonding, veneers or crowns finish the shape and fill any gaps.
At your consultation we look at your smile from every angle, take photos and a digital scan, and talk through what each option involves: how much tooth is changed, how long it lasts and what upkeep it needs. You’ll get a written estimate before anything starts.
Cosmetic or necessary?
Some treatments are both. A crown that restores a broken front tooth, or bonding that covers a worn edge, protects the tooth as well as improving how it looks. Insurance plans and the Canadian Dental Care Plan generally cover treatment that is needed for health, not purely cosmetic changes such as whitening or veneers for appearance. We’ll check your plan and tell you which parts may be covered.
